covenant serviceWe have a very special Sunday coming up on 4 February!

  • Rev Andrew Donaldson retires from his role as Parish Superintendent, after guiding the Parish through the changes of the last two years, as well as facilitating a visit from Rev Dr Lorraine Parkinson in October 2016, and initiating an English language programme for migrants who need assistance achieving the level required to begin preparing for their IELTS tests.  This latter is being undertaken in conjunction with English Language Partners, our own StreeTs Ministry (Rev Rob perceived a need and approached Rev Andrew) and Christchurch South (St Marks’) Methodist Parish;
  • Rev Jill van de Geer becomes Parish Presbyter, and continues her pastoral ministry as well taking on additional leadership tasks;  and
  • Rev Stephanie Robson will be inducted as Associate Presbyter, providing support for Rev Jill as well as bringing her own special skills to the Parish.

communionSo – on Sunday we will have a Covenant Service (also remembering Waitangi Day), a farewell service, a welcoming service, and a service of Holy Communion.  It will be a very special time of worship and celebration – led by Rev Kathryn Walters, Superintendent, Central South Island Synod.

All are welcome!

Yes, folks – we are still here, albeit a bit tardy with our (my?) updates.  Tomorrow we meet in the Hall at the Knox Centre for our weekly service of worship.  This week the service will be led by Rev Rob Ferguson, who walks around the city, talks to people from the Council to the Streets, and drinks lots of coffee – for a living!
